Nurses to Australia – Big News! AHPRA Introduces a New Case Management Operating System in 2025

A key feature of the new system is the introduction of an enhanced AHPRA portal for practitioners. The portal will feature digital smart forms for new applicants and registration renewals, making applications more efficient, faster, and more secure.

One of the most notable improvements is the implementation of an online biometric identity verification service. This will replace the current intensive, manual verification process, significantly reducing processing times for international applicants. Other upgrades include a new two-step verification for enhanced security, improved ‘Raise a Concern’ forms for notifications, and an advanced data model designed to better identify trends and improve regulatory oversight.

AHPRA’s current operating system has been in place since the inception of the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme in 2010. With the number of registered practitioners nearly doubling to over 920,000 in the past 15 years, the demands on AHPRA’s services have grown substantially. The new system will provide greater capacity to manage this increasing workload efficiently.

The new operating system is scheduled to go live on 17 March 2025, with additional upgrades rolling out throughout the year. These advancements will enable AHPRA to continue meeting its operational requirements and performance expectations as a modern and effective regulator.
