The Registration Journey with NMBI
To be registered as a nurse or midwife in Ireland, you’ll need to complete an application through NMBI’s overseas route. Here’s how the process unfolds:
1. Eligibility & Recognition of Qualification

3. NMBI Assessment & Decision Letter

- Adaptation Program – Supervised practice in an Irish hospital
- Aptitude Test – Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) to assess skills
What Happens After Registration?
Once you’re registered with NMBI:
- You’re eligible to apply for job.
- You may receive assistance for a Critical Skills Employment Permit
- You can start the process for family reunification through a Work Visa after getting the RN licence.
